Branding

Nadine Mitchell

Nadine asked me to help her design a business card for her. A collage artist, Nadine has perhaps the most strenuously restrained colour palette of anyone I have ever met. She loves black and white, taupe, tan, and grey, and a little spot of red once in a while. She also has a thing for natural fibers and ampersands.

Once the business card was underway, Nadine decided it was time to have a website built to showcase her collage art and give her an online presence. I built her site using WordPress.org so that she would be able to manage her content as new work was completed. Oak Lane Victoria

Oaklane Victoria's owner, Tamsin McIntosh, was in search of a fresh new look for the promotion of her furnished rental suites business. Her heritage home and suites are bright and airy, and the large oak tree in the front of the property is a landmark on the street. Tamsin was looking for something fresh and traditional; a business card that reflects the home's stately appearance and the eco-friendly nature of her operation.

The Oaklane website was redesigned to reflect this same aesthetic, and the simplicity of renting a fully furnished luxury suite. Please visit oaklanevictoria.com to view this website.

My Noisy Boys Designs

Caroline Storie, owner of My Noisy Boys Designs, wanted a new look for her etsy site and a business card and postcard for self promotion. Loose and light, with a hand-drawn look was what Caroline was after to reflect the whimsical nature of the handmade banners she prints and sews for decorating childrens' spaces. Below are the etsy banner, business card, and promotional postcard designed for her. To view the etsy banner in action, check out Caroline's etsy shop.

Blythe Creative

One of my favourite projects in the final term in Langara College's Electronic Media Design Program was to brand myself. I wanted a logo that was whimsical and yet instilled a sense of confidence, and used high contrast colours. I chose the blue as a reflection of the Pacific Ocean, for it's freshness and it's clean look.

Below is the business card that I designed; it wasn't just a case of making a business card and a website; part of the requirement was to produce a self-promotional giveaway.

For a self-promotional giveaway, my mission was to make something that would be kept for a while, something that would make the recipient think about our meeting at least a few times after our inital encounter, and something that would reflect a fun, fresh design idea! I decided to re-do a package of gum with my own branding on it - it's useful, it's fresh, and it's one of the things that is usually on hand for several uses... and it will likely be shared with other people, and my information gets that much further.

Finchley Paper Arts

I have been working for Lorna Hankin, owner of Finchley Paper Arts since June of 2011, helping her with design work as well as in the office. Finchley Paper Arts designs and manufactures art cards, gift wrapping paper, skins for laptops, iPhones and iPads, as well as hard cases for iPhones. The images are created as digital collages using old documents, maps, photographs and vintage ephemera - the perfect mix of old-school imagery meets the digital age. The branding work I have done with Lorna includes the design and layout of the 2013 downloadable pdf catalogue, as well as assisting with the packaging produced for both the gel skins and the hard cases. Available here for you to view is the Finchley Paper Arts 2013 Downloadable Catalogue. Here's a peek at the cover:
